Post Butyrate, Cox 1 & Cox2, HDAC Inhibition, IL6...and prostaglandins and hair...

this is going to be a long one. So when our guts are really healthy and our diet is great and we've not had microbe destroying antibiotics, some of our microbes if well fed on plant fiber and resistant starch make short chain fatty acids one is called butyrate. Butyrate is known to do a whole bunch of wonderful stuff. First it is primary food for colonic epithelial cells. It promotes the healthy mucus lining of the gut which keeps out pathogens. It upregulates regulatory T cells which teach our immune system tolerance of food proteins and reduces food allergies. It also downregulates inflammatory cytokotines like IL6 and upregulates anti-inflammatory ones like IL-10 (I think that's the right number LOL). It regulates gene expression because it is HDAC inhibitor histone function basically suppress some gene expression because it binds up the DNA in question and prevents transcription. And that is where the COX1 and COX2 comes into that link with HDAC inhibitors (Butyrate is one). If you google around you will find all manner of articles about these things and Butyrate. I have a friend who literally cured her 10 year ulcerative colitis by taking it. it lowers inflammation in many ways. Diabetics and obese have low levels of it. Skinny people have higher levels naturally. Inflammation is inflammation.

So possibly it would decrease PGD2 via its COX modulation.

It also stabilizes mast cells. And reduces IL6 which can stimulate excess CRH/ACTH and cortisol and DHEA (which can increase DHT).

And you can buy it and take it. Sodium Butyrate, 2 caps 3x per day. Amazon. I buy body bio brand.
