Minoxidil or RU58841 - if you could only choose one?

If you had to choose only one, minoxidil or RU58841, which would it be and why?

Tough question. I use minoxidil because it's been proven to work for most. However, while I do believe RU is probably effective (more so than minoxidil which merely promotes regrowth rather than addressing the underlying cause of hair loss) I'm wary of RU's possible side effects. There is little data in regards to long term usage. Will it cause cancer down the line or other adverse effects on health? At least with finasteride we know its potential harm and have a sense of how many people are likely to be effected statistically. This isn't the case with RU. My guess is that RU is similar to finasteride when it comes to sides and long-term usage (I don't think it will cause cancer), but the thing is I'm not sure which is why I'm staying away from the stuff until more long-term studies are done. However, if I'm desperate and fin and minoxidil don't work along with other treatments, then I may give more consideration to RU.
