Question Am I a Norwood 7?? Will a HT work?

Hi guys, I'm 30 now and have been thinning on top for about ten years. I have maternal and paternal relatives with nothing left on top- do you think I will end up a Norwood 7

Most importantly any one know if a HT will give decent coverage in conjunction with meds or do I just need to accept I'm gonna be completely bald

Pretty sure I've got a good donor area.

it depends on your donor. One picture is never enough.

About Norwood scale you may find more details here.
Also not everyone who is experiencing hair loss is a good candidate for hair transplant operation. Always set realistic expectations, and learn about your hair loss. Your pattern, your hair loss type, your hair type, your overall health, your donor area, and any underlying conditions all play an important role in your hair transplant surgery. They also determine if you are the right candidate or not. Visit for more information.

Well if you start with propecia and minoxidil, there's a good change you won't lose any more hair/or lose less hair in the years to come. You still have decent hair and you could use caboki/topik hair fibers to fill those gaps

Thanks for the info mbpman, I use the toppik at the minute but I want something I can actually style so that's why I'm considering HT. my hair doesn't seem to following a traditional Norwood pattern but guessing I will be nw7 by my late thirties, have you ever seen a HT give good coverage on significant hair loss ?

If I were you, I would seriously consider Platelet Rich Plasma therapy. It's probably less invasive. Also, now is the time to do it, because you still have diffuse areas. (Not much terminal hair though, unfortunately). Haven't tried that myself, but I'm in my forties, and my top density is good (hairline, is quite bad for me, unfortunately).

That said, you are probably a Norwood four, going on a Norwood five very soon. Would highly recommend you treat with Finasteride first (one milligram daily), and supplement that with regular strength Minoxidil.

The sooner you start, the better off your hair situation will probably be. There is an initial shedding, if you choose to use
    regular strength Minoxidil.

Definitely would recommend foam for you. In fact, don't even try liquid. With low density, dandruff will be very visible.

Just use five percent twice daily. The initial shedding is a one time thing, if you are a responder to Minoxidil.

Also, protect your scalp from weather elements, if needed. (UV rays, etc). That can damage hair (sun burn).
