HT- do they work for advanced hair loss and am i a good candidate? Recommendations?
Hi everyone,
I am so overwhelmed by all this information online and seems like a lot of it is conflicting or quite old now (possibly out of date???) so any information would be fantastic and really appreciated.
I am currently 30- have been thinning since late teens and on both sides of my family I have relatives with no hair left on top- bearing this in mind I am guessing that by my late thirties I will have nothing left. At present I can wear Toppik fibres and it conceals quite well.
I am considering an FUE procedure and the medication route (My GP laughed at me last time I requested a prescription but thats a whole other thread) main reason for picking this is because i'm concerned it will go wrong (based on threads here) and I will still be able to shave my head relatively short in that scenario.
I am aware that I will need more than one surgery and a significant amount of grafts - but ultimately the question is - will I ever be able to transplant enough hairs that I have enough hair to wear it styled instead of shaved short?
I am in Ireland but willing to travel, Turkey is looking good and Dr Erdogan seems to have good reviews but he hasn't gotten back to my request for info. The DHI clinic is based in Dublin but I am concerned because they are so vague - I have been told they cant even give me an estimate of the number of grafts although I have good donor area and they cant give me an idea of what the results will look like - am I being unreasonable?
Any information on suitability for HT or recommendations for clinics would be great, thank you for your help guys - seriously appreciate it!

You may be a candidate, but I think you will need to get on meds first (couldn't tell from your post if you are). You have a bit of a forelock, which helps, so a procedure could add density behind it to the frontal third.

Thanks for the info KO1, I'm not taking any meds at the minute. I went to my GP and she literally laughed at me and said I should just accept it and move on, I was using minoxidil for a while but it was impossible when I had long hair. Planning on starting back but some surgeons say they want you to be off meds before the procedure.
Do you know if it's normal for a clinic not to estimate how many grafts will be done before hand?
