Is this a good sign?
I have been on propecia for about a month now. The scalp itch has completely dissappeared but I am shedding hair massively. Even on the sides and back. Is this a telogen effluvium? It must be doing something because the insane scalp itch and burning in the thinning areas have stopped.

Not necessarily.
Be prepared for the worst. I have been on fin 5 months and had an early shed all over like you. The hair has never grown back. I have read so many countless stories about people continuing to shed and shed on finasteride without ever regrowing what is lost. A year onward and they look so much worse than baseline. Ultimately, I don't think fin causes long term hair loss, but I do think it doesn't work for quite as many people as some would like us to believe. It definitely looks like it's not working for me.
