    Default Am I balding??

Hey guys, so I know that men my age tend to overreact about PMB, but I feel like my case might not be normal. About a month ago, I noticed that my hair was super thin around the front of my hairline, which really freaked me out until I realized that a lot of people I see around also have that similar situations. So right when I calmed down about that I found that the top of my head (specifically my vertex) is REALLY thin. I asked my parents and some friends and they gave me answers like "it's just the way it's growing" or "that's just where your hair is parting." For a brief background, I'm 18 years old and have had really thick hair for as long as I could remember, the barber would always tell me that I had some of the thickest hair he'd ever seen. As far as family goes, my dad's side of the family for the most part has had a history of full heads of hair while my moms side, while thin and slight cases of recession all have maintained their hair. If someone could please tell me if I'm overreacting or not and if I'm not then what I could do to slow, stop, or maybe even thicken it back up. I know it sounds crazy but this has really put me down lately because my hair is and always has been a huge part of who I am and the thought of losing it just destroys me. On a side note, I haven't had a really severe sickness lately or been stressing out too much. I've also included pictures of my hairline, crown and vertex. Also keep in mind that these pictures were taken just two days after I got a haircut from a relatively long hairstyle if that means anything. Any help is appreciated guys. Thanks -Nathan

First off your hair looks good from your pictures. If you feel you are losing ground the best thing to do is see a dermatologist and have them evaluate your hair for loss then they can recommend a plan.

HELLO NathanC !! Welcome to this great forum, The BTT !

Gman3200 gave you very good and fair advice. (good job Gman')

NathanC, because you are only 18 years old right now, you probably only have a maturing hairline.
    Your hair does look GOOD!!

Acceptance of a maturing scalp is very important for everyone.
No worries. Yes, see a GOOD dermatologist to understand it all.
    Cheers bro!!

Thanks for the response!! I've heard of a maturing hairline, but never a maturing scalp. What exactly is that?

It's both the same thing Nath'.
    No worries my friend.
    Do the research on Biotin.
    It's a vitamin of the B complex.
It has a long history of helping hair!
    Check it out.

Your hair isn't balding. You're Norwood zero, and at most (highly unlikely) a Norwood one hairline. But to me the hairline is exactly where it should be. Also, you don't even have temple recession. No baldness/diffuse areas on top.

    Hi K9gatton !!
I'm glad you responded to NathanC using commonsense!!
I'm so glad that NathanC is not allowing anything to bother him.
Teenagers don't yet have that foresight available to them yet.
Once they're in their mid to late 20s they will have that proper foresight.
