Default Minoxidil 5% Sexual Side Effects (Please help)

i have used minoxidil 5% on and off for 3 months, like 1 bottle in 2 month, then at the end of June 2016 i started applying it on regular basis for one month continuously until the end of July 2016 and then sexual side effects hit me. no erection , cold genitals, zero libido.. first i thought what suddenly happened to me then by accident it came to my knowledge after reading several of websites where people complaining with the same side effects from minoxidil 5%. at first i think it may not be minoxidil as its not a documented side effect of minoxidil and got checked my testosterone , prolactin etc everything came back normal. i haven't used anything else and physically and mentally Fit. and then talked to the guys who are on the same bort.

Its now 3 months since i stopped taking minoxidil cold turkey with very little improvements, cold genitals are now gone but still i suffer from poor erection quality and zero libido.

i was a horny dog just before starting minoxidil.

Please help... any past sufferer , what amount of time it will take to subside these side effects . any suggestions

minoxidil doesnt interact with hormones. It was design for the heart and to lower the blood pressure. If you lower your blood pressure and increase the size of your vessels ( vasodilatation) then of course you can have troubles having an erection (not all but some people will have for sure) . It's used on the scalp in order to make the vessels that bring nutriments to your hair larger, to increase the blood flow there. that's why some people have huge headache under minoxidil. I suggest you take some natural herbs, horny goat with maca for instance. You'll be ready to xxxx in no time.

From liquid Minoxidil alone, that shouldn't cause sexual side effects. Keep in mind it's only a five percent solution.

Might want to look at another possible cause.

well I disagree minoxidil even on topical application CAN end up in the systemic system. it depends on many factors but it sure can. ( same thing for ketoconazole for instance).
besides one must never put more than 1ml of 5% twice daily to avoid that.
if you read the RCP, you'll see that hyper-sensibility to monoxidil exists and it affects blood pressure. Also the manufacturer indicates minoxidil pass into the general circulation hence blood pressure related problems. Clinical trials have reported low blood pressure cases. Trials have reported that a range from 0.3% to 4.5 % on healthy scalp pass into the blood. If you are in the upper sensibility with 2ml /day that represent 100mg of minoxidil topically therefore 4.5 mg in your blood which might be enough to trigger lower blood pressure if your body is sensible enough to this molecule.
All manufacturer information can be read on a site that is the equivalent of the FDA : http://agence-prd.ansm.sante.fr/php/...p/R0228673.htm

This is my own experience. Currently I supplement thirty percent Minoxidil with 5%, on a daily basis. Now, the Minoxidil I take is supplemented with .1% Finasteride (topical). One milligram of my medication is equal to one Propecia (solid Finasteride tablet).

Also .5% Progesterine, which is equivalent to five milligrams oral. The Progesterone
does more than the thirty percent I take daily. Even more than the Finasteride.

I was at a party today. There were only two men, out of twenty, that had more hair than me. And some were younger than me as well. Most of the men in my family are Norwood sevens, and they are all within a couple years of my own age.

    Everybody is different of course.

I've been using Minoxidil for around twenty five years.

ya bro u r right.. thank u my bro at least u didnt told me its all in my head,,, i m the case.. i applied 8 sprays daily at bald head before bed ,(where 12 sprays says 2ml..maybe)) which to my knowledge makes it possible to absorb too much through my scalp,, and gave me sexual sides,, very small percentage of people get them but they do, even webmd listed sexual side effects in the list of rare sides of minoxidil..

i knew it minoxidil but to satisfy this question (another possible cause) as this came to my mind too.. i have started weight training ,, healthy diet and will abstain from sexual stimulation or activity for awhile to see how it goes bec i want my erections back like before minox rock solid even without manual stimulation when required
there is nothing i could do now except taking measures to sort this out,,, i dont care my brother if minox is responsible or not,,, because the damage is done now.
i am just seeking for same cases like mine to get some knowhow how to cope with this situation..

I highly doubt minoxidil is the cause for your sexual issues, Minoxidil does not lower your DHT or interact or interfere with hormones, even if it is absorbed systemically it could cause your heart rate to speed up. It depends though, if your Minoxidil contains DHT blockers like Saw Palmetto, Azelaic Acid then it could be from the other ingredients in the Minoxidil, but if it's straight Minoxidil then I doubt its from that.

I'd say 9 times out of 10 the issue is hormonal, low testosterone is probably what is causing this, why you may have low testosterone depends, I think men now experience low testosterone because of the enviroment we live in, BPA in the plastic, a lot of the foods we eat disrupt our hormones, if I were you I would get my testosterone levels checked, remember the range is broad, 300 ng/dl to 1,000 ng/dl if you score in the 300's then that means you have the testosterone level of a man in his 70's and no wonder you have sexual issues.

At that point you would need to figure out how to raise your testosterone naturally, it could be down to simple nutrition and sleep, if you're restricting your fat intake then that would cause a testosterone deficiency, cholesterol is needed for testosterone production, eating soy and veggies is not going to raise your testosterone like steak and eggs would. Another thing is Porn, too much masturbation and porn can actually be negative, try to stop watching porn and masturbating for at least a month, look up Porn Induced ED it's very real and more likely then Minoxidil.

Minoxidil does have a long half life. Read a couple of different articles. So it might be in your system for quite some time.

I usually take people at their word. So if you say it is a side effect, who am I to judge?
