Default Does a $2 / Graft FUE surgeon in LA sound fishy?

I don't want to give the guy free advertisement so I won't list the doctor's name, but he's advertising $2 per graft which sounds way below the market price (especially in Los Angeles of all places). Would you say to steer clear? His online reviews, however, seem legit.

    simple answer: yes

If he isn't a recommended doctor (which I doubt he is at $2/graft FUE), do more research and save yourself a world of hurt.

I'm in LA. I've done a lot of research.. Made the best decision of my life. But in your case.. Long story short: You get what you pay for. ;-)

    Good luck man!

Sounds super fishy! Unless they mean $2/hair in which case still seems low for LA standards...tread lightly

I would've told you to avoid such a dr about a week ago but I just saw one of my close friends that was as bald as I was recently and he had a hair transplant for $2.50 a graft here in the Los Angeles area. His hairline looked very good. To top it off, it was FUE at $2.50 a graft. Most likely, Rashid is right about why it's only $2.50.

Make sure it's an IAHRS doctor, first and foremost. And as Dr. Rashid pointed out, also find out what they're meaning in terms of a "graft" and see if they really mean a "hair". (A single graft can hold up to 4 hairs, fyi.) I personally don't like the method of charging per hair and think it can be misleading and dishonest, but that's neither here nor there. The important thing is that you do your research to find out, because at first glance, it does sound way too good to be true.

    Thumbs up

There are some surgeons that are known and charge around that figure.

See if it is per graft or per hair. Ask them about their surgical protocol.

Who does what aspects of the surgery?

    How many grafts per day?

    What tools do they use?

Do they have actual patients that are willing to meet?

Do they provide any guarantee if there is an issue? Do they give refunds or do you have to go back and get another surgery with the same doc?

I'd research hard before you give any deposit for any surgery. Take a look at their consent forms. Good luck with whatever you decide.
