Default 39 Noob with a lot of questions

39 M. Shaved my head with a razor in the military when I was 23, and it grew back thinner than it was prior. Still had mostly full coverage. Started noticing significant hair loss early thirties. Took propecia and noticed sexual side effects.

I'm single and I'm not one of those guys who can rock the bald look. Skin is too pasty and my head is too big. I'd like to look into hair transplants.

I'm in Charlotte NC, which means I'm close by to a doctor recommended on this forum (Dr. Cooley).

Curious what the cost would be. Would I have to take propecia for the transplant to be effective? Where do I start, basically. Theres a lot of information on this forum and its easy to get overwhelmed.

    Any help is appreciated.

First of all, Im glad that you decided to be a member of this great hairloss forum, The BTT.
I have been a member since 2010 because, at first,
I became a member here to find out what might be best for my hairloss back then.
In 2012 my hair was starting to get a lot more hairloss.
I decided to NOT ALLOW my hairloss to affect me in a negative way at all.
Of course, like every one else, I hated my hairloss BUT I decided no to let it alter my life in a negative way.
Acceptance is so very important for everyone.
In 2013 I was going to shave down my scalp. Of course I knew that, at first, I would not have liked it BUT I would
have accepted it for what it was.
But I then decided to try Finasteride first.
Finasteride started to show a % of improvements to my hair after about 3 months of its use.
My wife noticed a positive deference as well. (Ive had NO bad side effects from it at all to this very day)
Since 2013, I am always on here to try to HELP others by using commonsense. (especially for the very young people)
Being that you would like to get hair transplantation work done, that is A-OK to do.
Of course, you need to do a lot of research on all of those doctors that you are considering.
Stay positive DLBG. Also, since you are 39 years old now, you should have proper FORESIGHT within you now!!
That would not allow you to become 'ruined' over your hairloss at all.
Cheers to you!! Hope to hear back from you soon.

Thanks for the response. I'm not 'ruined' by my hair loss. But it certainly affects my self esteem.

I just say your response (at 10:45 pm)
Im glad to hear back from you DLBG !!
It is great that you are not 'ruined' by your hairloss, BUT, your self-esteem should NOT be affected at all my friend!
Acceptance is so very important for you. (and everybody else too)
In time you CAN get very good improvement to your scalp, you just have to be ACCEPTING of how things are for right now.
If somebody around you has an issue with YOUR scalp then that is that persons problem NOT YOURS bro!!
Consider what I am saying to you DLBG,,,lets keep a conversation together my friend!!
    Cheers !!
