DHT levels normal after 3 months on topical Finasteride + Minoxidill
Hey all,
I've just had my DHT levels tested after being on a 0.1% (equivalent to 1mg) Finasteride + 15% Minoxidil daily for just over 3 months. Dr says my levels were normal for a 44 year old male. Here are the results:
Normal Testosterone: 21.5 nmol/L (normal range 8.0 - 30 nmol/L)
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT): 0.6 nmol/L (normal range for 20+ years old: 0.4 - 2.5 nmol/L)
Unfortunately I don't have baseline levels for comparison so I can't tell you whether my DHT levels have changed since starting the topical treatment. Even so the results may be of interest for anyone who wants to try topical Finasteride because of fear of side effects.
My main concern with topical is that it is easy to spread around. I am very cautious that I don't touch my head after application (or even lean back on something) as it would be easy to spread around and would be dangerous to pregnant women or children. I work from home so I almost always wash it off before I go out of the house. If there were thousands and thousands of men with this stuff on their head then I'm sure it would be spread around in public places. My hope is that a liposomal preparation becomes readily available so that the chances of accidental absorption is reduced.
