Hair loss "cure" or prevention...?

So I'm sure we've all googled everything we could on hair loss and treatments and the future of hair loss technology at least I know I have but anyway one thing that I don't quite get is if hair follicles do indeed eventually die out? I've read things saying they do some say they become dormant and some say a little of both. So when I think of a hair loss cure I think of like a full 180 turn around I have my hair from kindergarden again but it doesn't actually even seem like some of the company's who say they are working on a "cure" are seeing it necessarily that way. I may be mistaken but it seems more like they aim for better treatment to just stop it from doing anymore damage kind of thing not full reversal maybe that's too much wishful thinking and impossible? Im rapidly balding at 23 I won't have that hair to keep so id be more hopeful for a reversal I guess... what are your guys thoughts?
