Quick back story, My crown area was quite itchy for a while and i noticed the hairless spots. Is this the start of MPB? or is this my scalp/roots.

    Thanks, Swann

Yeah, looks like some balding on the vertex. Fortunately for you, that's the place where Rogaine (Minoxidil) is most effective, so you might try Rogaine for a few months (6 at least) to see if it improves.

Hard to tell. At your age and consider you still have plenty of native hair you need to talk to a Dr. about starting Finasteride. Rogain is nothing more then a temporary bandaid. You need a long term strategy. Worst thing you could do at this stage is do nothing. Take it from someone who knows, time is not on your side.

If your ok with that you'll be better off than 99% of us here on this site. You will also be following the advice of Spencer. If you feel good about shaving it, when the time comes shave it and walk proud!

Shave it now and see if you like the look. you can always let it grow back as it doesn't look like you have lost much yet. You don't want to realize that you look horrible with a shaved head after its to late.

The thing is most treatments available to us today work better at the crown. You should research into them and decide if they are for you.

I started balding early too, and I wish I would have started fin at 18.
