Default Irish doctor won't even examine my hair, so any advice would be appreciated!

Could this be male pattern baldness? I have bad dermatitis on my scalp and I heard that could have contributed to the thinning of my hair. I was on medication for my condition which also supposedly causes hair shedding.

It is possible that the hair loss is due to your scalp issues. I've had dandruff on and off my entire life, and I've found that when I'm having an "outbreak", my hair fall is considerably greater than when my scalp is healthy.

The only way to know for sure what is going on is to set up an appointment with a specialist - either a hair transplant surgeon or a dermatologist.

Why did the doctor refuse to even see you? That seems bizarre.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.

Thank you very much for the responses guys. The doctor saw me but refused to examine my scalp because they told me it's not something I should be concerned with and that everyone loses their hair. A dismissive response at best. Needless to say I won't be seeing that particular doctor again. Doctor's here in Ireland just don't seem concerned with hair loss.

I'm going to ask for a referral to a dermatologist. Thanks again

Dandruff is caused by a fungus which can be treated by using a zinc shampoo, start with this to get the scalp to healthy state then see what next step is

Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try.
