I really cannot believe you guys are going ahead and trying to do PRP from home, you have no formal training and relying on searching online for answers, it's just crazy.

I would hate to read on hear that someone has seriously harmed themselves through doing this procedure by themselves, honestly, leave this treatment to the experts in the field.

Hi guys, signed up just for this thread.

          Tonight/today I completed my first round of PRP at home. Not sure how well it went. I'll outline difficulties below;

          1. My centrifuge seemed to get very hot after spinning for 5mins, first spin lasted 15mins @ 4000rpm with 4 x 9mm viles. The samples came out warm and I am not sure if this normal. I bought the one recommended in the thread the 800D desktop model - anyone else have this issue?

          2. I had an issue trying to get the buffy coat as I am not 100% which is exactly the buffy coat, I know its the white layer between the PPP and RBC but on my sample it was a thin sticky layer ontop of the RBC portion. I took out all the yellow PPP with as much of this white layer (small amount of RBC too) and spun it a 2nd time. I then took the top 2/3rds and saved it for derma rolling.

          3. I used a 3ml syringe and the 4mm needle mention in the thread. As a previous user mention, I also had difficulty getting the buffy coat in to the need. The bottom 1/3rd had the white layer ontop of the small amount of RBC after the 2nd spin. I wasn't sure if I should use the entire sticky white coat for the injection - can anyone clarify? I saw a method on youtube where they use a syringe just above the white layer and use a "tornado" method to spin the white layer into the lower portion of the left over 1/3rd PPP. I tried this but ended up sucking in most of the white layer and mixed it with some RBC and the PPP.

          4. Injecting with the 4mm needle, I really don't know how much went in to my scalp. It all seemed to run down my face or just pool out of the injection area. Sometime it did seem to go in, sometimes it didn't. I tried many different angles, 90, 45, 30 .... Has anyone had success with this or any other size needle? The videos I saw they use much larger needles and get large bumps under the skin in the areas its injected. So I do not know how much went in, overall I think I only had about 4-5ml of PRP total and maybe half that went into the scalp(?).

I will try to update again the results in 2 weeks, if anyone could answer my questions / comment on the above, it would be greatly appreciated.

            Blood Draw Help

            Hi everybody,

First off, thanks for all of the great info. Really appreciate everyone sharing what has and hasn't worked.

From what I read the entire process doesn't seem overly complex, but I'm concerned about drawing my own blood. I have no experience doing this and don't have any family or friends who would be able to help. Does anybody know of a way to get blood drawn and keep it. I've tried talking to a couple labs, but they will only draw it if you're having a test done. If anybody has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

              Gday guys,

Long time reader, first time poster. I thought I would share my PRP experience, since Ive done 3 at home. A bit of background me, Im 28 and have been on finasteride for the past 10 years. Ive tried everything under the sun, and PRP was really the last chance I had. I saw cosmetic surgeons and asked about what products, and methods they are doing. But didn't want to spend my lifesavings on something that may not work.
Anyway, I got the equipment from Alibaba. Very simple process. The first time I did it, I wasn't exactly sure on what I was doing. I ended up taking too much of the liquid (some would have been Platelet Pool Plasma). Anyway, I had some shedding for a day or two after. Since the, everything has come up Millhouse. Im barely getting any shedding and seeing much more volume.

I don't have any strict timeframes for when my injection should be. I make this decision when I start to notice shredding.

I would love to get off Finasteride, its shit for your sex drive and there has been research linking it to testicular cancer. I do wonder what the results would be if i stoped taking the drug...

The most challenging part is the blood draw. My partner would freak if she knew about this. Ive been doing it solo. It gets a bit messy. Having someone help would make it a million times easier, but I don't know who I can trust.

In summary, it is actually the simplest process, and very low risk. Im based in Brisbane, Australia and have considering how I could commercialise this. Just to go work out how to protect myself legally. Im not a doctor.

Good luck with everyones efforts. Fortune favours the brave

Speak to an off-duty nurse. Don't mention its for PRP (they might freak). ...Cant think of a suitable excuse at the moment... sorry man.

Try AirTasker - look for a nurse and get her to assist you. If she asks "What's it for" don't mention PRP - she will freak.

I've watched videos on drawing blood and roughly know whats involved. Although I have only done it solo, I would recommend 2 people. Try AirTasker - look for a nurse and get her to assist you. If she asks "What's it for" don't mention PRP - she will freak.

This topic is intriguing to me. I was looking around the web and found this DrPRP site. It's a medical company that sells kits to separate PRP and plasma from blood. They claim the kit can help separate and reclaim the pure PRP and gets a 97% recovery rate. $180 for a seemingly simple plastic device seems steep but might be worth it for those who are hardcore about this. The kit wasn't as interesting as the instructions on their site.

The experts who have done research and are already self-applying PRP might want to look that over.

BTW, They recommend 3000 RPM centrifuge speed and a 4 minute first spin. 3200 RPM and 6 minute 2nd spin. They recommend larger needles and counterbalancing the PRP tube with another tube on the opposite side of the centrifuge.

Hope this helps someone. I want to see more feedback here before I bite the bullet and try this personally. Would love for people who are doing this to check back in frequently!

What a great thread. I just picked up 10 of the 3dose syringes that Birdman recommended. I’ll also be using the 4mm needles recommended. Can anyone comment on the number of injections and dose per injection? Is there a certain number of units we are to be injecting every cm2? Or can they be more spread out? Also, if you are using a 4mm needle, I assume you inject straight in (no angle)? How often to do you do every 2 weeks before switching to once a month?

I just had a Rahal transplant with PRP and I’d like to do the follow up PRP doses at home.

                          Thanks!

Like another poster said, this is very intriguing and I think I’ll try it out myself. I’m collecting a shopping cart of supplies online. Big thanks to OP and birdman for the info.

The two things I’m still fuzzy on: time and speed in the centrifuge. Is this an exact science or more of a “within a certain range” type of thing? Can you tell by looking at the tube when to stop?

Second - once you’ve finished your second spin and have the PRP ready to go, how do you go around getting it in the syringe? 4mm isn’t gonna be long enough to reach down in that tube to the PRP

Thanks again for all the informative posts

Hi guys i'm new to the forum and i'm very interested in this threads. I bought all i need for this "homemade prp" But maybe something is missing... Do i need to activate the plasma with some chemicals? I feel like a crazy scientist with this stuff around 🤣. Thanks in advance for the answer and sorry if my english seems a bit off.

                                I doing home prp too

Hi Gabryhell, I am new to the thread too and also like you I just bought everything I need for home prp. The last delivery of BD tubes with acd-a is coming in on Tuesday. I was thinking about that same question. I don't we need to activate it. I found this study on Pubmed https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5343942/ I haven't finished reading it, yet. I found another study that said that to avoid early activation to use a needle to withdraw blood greater than 22 gauge because thinner needles will activate the platellets. And the hypodermic needle I am going to use is 31 guage. So I think that means that the 31G will activate it. I am still reading.
