Default Bumping head 11 days after FUE transplant

    Hi Everyone,

I'm currently 11 days post-op and just accidentally bumped my recipient zone onto a chair. There is no blood and no noticeable swelling, but I'm concerned this could damage the long-term result.

From what I've read, some doctors say to be careful not to bump your head for the first 7-10 days, while others say to be careful for a whole month. What is the real risk in bumping the transplanted grafts and is there any way to tell if any grafts have actually been damaged?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply, Dr. Rashid. Unfortunately, my surgeon is abroad, so an in person follow up is not possible at this moment.

Is the main risk with bumping your head the possibility of dislodging grafts, or is there a risk of damaging the actual growth center of the follicular units which were implanted inside the Dermis? As far as I can tell, there was no bleeding, so I probably didn't dislodge any grafts, but I'm still concerned that hitting my head could stunt or halt the hairs from growing in some way.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

From my understanding, you simply want to be careful not to dislodge the graft. At 11 days post-op, you are at a very low risk of damaging the grafts. However, the most important piece of information here is that there was no bleeding. A general rule of thumb to follow is that if there's no blood, the graft is A-okay. So let that ease your mind if nothing else.

I would still reach out to your surgeon and just let them know what happened and see what they have to say.

Keep us updated if you can.
