Default Dr. Lindsey 3 layer trichophytic scar repair in middle eastern medical professional

So here is another scar repair case we just did. It is very similar to the video I put up a few days ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EshBpMkb4k

This medical professional had a couple of strip cases done by a very reputable surgeon. His scars widened and are noticeable. I excised his scar 7 days ago, shown are intraop pictures, and his sutures came out this morning.

Note how wide the scalp pulls apart compared to the excised scar. The next picture shows the small skin gap after the deep 2 layers are in, and then the skin closure.

HOPEFULLY he won't stretch my scar and he will use vitamin E twice a day. I expect to see him in a month for an update and scar check.

Like cats, doctors are hard to order around, so we'll see how well he does at coming back but he seems motivated.

As I've posted many, many times, the best predictor of a future scar is the previous scar. So what is different this time? Well, I know that he was closed with one layer left in for 2 weeks at both of his previous cases, and I've dealt with maybe 30 scars from this particular surgeon with pretty good outcomes. Only time will tell however.

You may notice I could not get out all of the scar on the corners, but I hope we've gotten rid of enough to allow his fairly disperse hair back there to cover the resultant scar effectively.

nice work I'm sure that will be a huge improvement. just another example why patients shud steer clear from FUT imo. you hear all the stories about how many many years ago ppl had poorly healing scars from FUT yet its 2016 and there are still new cases each and every day!

GNX...you are correct in that patients should steer clear of POORLY done FUT... BUT, take a look at 2 videos I put up yesterday showing our scars before you rule out strip. Strip ALWAYS grows better than FUE, but in poor scarrers, guys who need short hair, and limited size jobs...FUE is also a great option.

The videos I refer to are on the "video" section of this forum.

Here is the one month scar check. Looks good. If it looks crappy at 1 month...it'll never look good. If it looks good at a month, it USUALLY ends up pretty good.

I hope to check him in 2 more months.

Here is 8 weeks. Normal redness. Doctor moving out of area..hopefully to send pics periodically. I'll tell you...I'm thrilled with how narrow it is and that we got probably 80% of his scar out AND its impossible to see with his haircut. I'll also tell you he thinks its an improvement but wants to talk about FUE into that scar next summer.

PERFECTION is the enemy of good...assuming his scar is the same or better next year...which I think is likely (if he restarts the vitamin e which he quit on his own...doctors are the worst patients)...I think he'll have little to gain from that effort. But time will tell.
