VIDEO GRAPHIC Dr. Lindsey Keloid scar excision and 3 layer closure McLean VA

Ok guys, this one has some intraop video of today's case revising Acne keloidalis nuchae . Now I hope to get a 50% improvement, but there is always a chance of worsening things, which the patient and I discussed on a couple of occasions before proceeding. Intraop, I injected steroids to limit re-keloiding, and he'll use silicone sheeting and gels, vitamin E, and monthly followups.

Hopefully I can post periodic updates if he keeps his appointments.

For those of you who wonder why we didn't just place hair in the scar...well this scar is DENSE. I'm not sure anything would grow in that tissue. Possibly if we wind up with a smaller and softer scar, FUE into it may be an option.

Here is a 2 month checkup. Pretty good so far. Certainly a huge reduction in scar width.
