    Default Seasonal Shedding.

Im 26 and Asian. In the last couple of weeks Ive noticed my hair has gotten way less dense. Normally my hair is very fine, but if I flip through my hair I can see more scalp than I normally would.
Ive been told it looks less overall so its not pattern baldness. Ive gotten these comments sometimes before during the octobers of previous years which leads me to think it could be some kind of seasonal shedding.
In response to this, Ive started not using shampoo on my hair and also stopped using any hair products(wax).

My question is has anyone else noticed something like this? Would the nopoo help or hurt in this situation? Anything I can do to avoid this kind of shedding? How normal or extreme is this situation?

I've read humans like every other animal alive go thru seasonal shedding which takes place in fall.
You should be using shampoo because sweat has testosterone in it and will damage hair.

I'm interested by what you mean with shampoo and testosterone. Is there any research on this I can read?

For the most part, I've read people on nopoo gain hair.

I used to not shampoo either but during a doctors visit, I mentioned to the doc I don't use shampoo and he told me I should absolutely use shampoo because water alone won't cleanse enough oil off scalp. "Oil and sweat have testosterone in it which will damage your hair" is what he told me.

Don't have any studies to post but I'm sure you can find the link between oil/sweat and testosterone in a Google search

Here's a great post that Spex wrote about seasonal shedding. I found it very helpful and informative, so see if this helps you at all. It's specifically about shedding after a HT, but it could still be of interest to you.
