Arrow New Research into Improved Robotic Hair Transplant Methods - Parsa Mohebi., M.D.

IAHRS accepted member Dr. Parsa Mohebi has recently been working in tandem with the creators of the ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant System on research into ways to eliminate two-step graft extraction procedures. Dr. Mohebi has been serving as the principal investigator of the one-step follicular unit extraction (FUE) technique which could revolutionize the way robotic hair restoration procedures are performed.

What is the difference between the "two-step" and "one-step" process? Tripping the speed? Wow. ARTAS is clearly the future of HTs.

    Default

two steps (what we use today): the sharp needle scores the tissue about 1-2mm then the punch goes deeper and release the graft. The grafts are very easy to extract (obviously there are always the exceptions). The harvest cycle is about 1.8 seconds

one step: the sharp needle scored the tissue 2-3.5mm, the grafts can then be manually extracted. The harvest cycle is less than 1 second.

There are pros and cons on both, they both can yield great results.

The numbers between manual and ARTAS do not correlate as the needles, punches and mechanics are different. So a 2mm depth with a manual sharp dissection needle does not mean anything in ARTAS world.

I can go on for hrs but as we get closer to something interesting I will post some videos and some commentary. I presented some information at the ARTAS user meeting a couple of month back
