    Default Balding as a teenager

    Hi everyone,
I've been reading through these threads for a couple of months now, finally decided that I wanted other people's opinions on my hair. Last year when I was in a building with fluorescent lights one of my friends pointed out how bald I was (something that I had never even remotely imagined was happening to me, you can't see it from the front of my head.) I began to take pictures of the back of my head and use a mirror to look at it, and in some lighting it just is awful. I had the thickest hair 2 years ago. I can't even place a time on when it started to go, I never realized until this friend pointed it out. I can't imagine that it's genetic, my parents and grandparents ALL have full heads of hair. However, my uncle is almost completely bald, but everyone says he took really awful care of his hair (lots of gel etc.). I've brought this up to my family but no one takes me seriously and no one will make an appointment for me because in normal lighting it doesn't look like I have a problem. I've noticed that as of lately you can start seeing the thinning even in the front. This all started last July. Do you think it's worth spending my own money to make a dermatologist appointment and figure out what's going on? How much is an appointment like that? I actually went and saw a doctor at my college free of cost, just a general healthcare physician, and she said that I was fine and I shouldn't worry about it, but I feel like she doesn't know what she's talking about. I stress about this so much, I can honestly spend hours in front of a mirror with my phone or a handheld mirror just staring in horror, it's so unhealthy. As you can see, sometimes, in normal lighting it's not really an issue, but in other lighting it's so bad.
