Default Another company in the Hair market. ANYONE can do hair as a practice profit center!

Here's the latest email I got yesterday. I'm guessing it went out to LOTS of medical practices looking to generate a little extra income.

Sites like this are KEY for potential patients to do research before committing to a slick sales pitch!

The email is as follows and had a fancy high tech pic that won't cut and paste.

    Hi Dr. Lindsey,
The hair transplant market is growing at an amazing rate.
The total market size for hair restoration surgery has increased 28% since 2012, that is a dollar (USD) amount of $1.9 billion in 2012 to $2.5 billion in 2014.

On average these days I'm seeing 1 guy a week who has had an FUE procedure by a non-hair doctor. Yesterday, I saw 3 guys, one from out of state, 2 from the DC area....they'd paid for, allegedly, anywhere between 1500 and 2500 FUEs. All 3 said that the procedure took about 3 hours, the doctor was "not there" in 2 of the 3... All 3 had what I'd describe as minimal growth at 10-18 months postop. All 3 had lots of FUE scars in the donor area with hair poking out of most of the scars...so my guess is that they had rootless hairs placed in the recipient area...and the roots remain in the donor region for future use.

2 of the 3 may be amenable to repair, which I'm pushing strip due to the significant scarring in their donor area... One is likely to repeat his FUE experience and had an appointment at a nearby clinic for just after visiting me...also with a non-hair practice now offering hair.

Fortunately none have had the 6800 FUE's with no growth that I described in a post last fall. That fellow is still paying off his 4th procedure!

Buyer beware. There are no guarantees, even with clinics with good track records...although statistically you are more likely to have a good outcome by picking an experienced team.

I'm glad you are bringing this to people's attention Dr. Lindsey, the ARTAS robotic FUE is making anyone a HT surgeon. Shocking how little research people do before undergoing these procedures.
