    26 year old thinning crown?

    Hey Guys,

Please find the attached, recently I have been growing a concern over my crown and what looks to be thinning around it... I've been obsessing over it now since christmas and can't help but keep checking it by using my camera. Am I going mad or is this the early signs of MPB or hair diffusal?

I had noticed hair had been falling out around christmas time but it seems to have calmed down... I had really bad dandruff and the back of my hair would be sticky... As you can see in the pictures there is still dandruff there .

I have also noticed the left side of my head is also thinner than the right .

I went to see my gp but he said it was due to stress and didn't see any signs of mpb and prescribed me ketopine.. but i don't believe him.

What do you guys think? Should I see a derm or just monitor it for now?

    Any feedback will be greatful

    Cheers!

Really hard to tell, you do have a swirl there so seeing thinner portion there is normal, but in the second picture the thin area looks too big. I'd go to a dermatologist just in case. Some others here might be able to tell better.

      Hey minoepoe,

Firstly, many thanks for responding your comment is much appreciated!

Yup, I have an annoying swirl! I currently have a business card for a local hair transplant and skin clinic, I may give them a call and see if I can get a booking.

I will continue to update this thread for those who are curious or have similar problem.

Also, anyone is free to comment.

      Cheers Guys :P

hey bro, how is your hair everywhere else? Do you have naturally thin hair? Cause you could possibly have thin hair.

          Hey Bmoreno515,

Seems fine everywhere else above is the top of my head... seems ok to me just the back and the left side of my head that seems thin.

          Cheers,

I think your hair looks fine, I have a similar thinning and its thin on one side for me too, still go see a derm and see what they say but your hair looks good on the crown

The swirl does make it a little difficult to tell, but I will say that it's common for that area of the crown to seem thinner when there's a whirl/cowlick involved. Also, I know that for me personally, my hair fall increases pretty significantly when I have a dandruff/dry scalp outbreak. I've had scalp sensitivity issues all my life, and when my scalp is obeying itself, my hair seems to follow suit and obey itself also.

The only way to know for sure if you're losing your hair or not though is to get a miniaturization test with a trusted HT surgeon (who will tell you the truth and not just try to sell you a hair transplant that you may not even need). In the meantime, get the dandruff taken care of and see if that makes a difference. I apply raw apple cider vinegar to mine when it gets out of hand. It's the only thing I've found through the years that actually fixes the problem.

Overall though, I do think your hair looks great - but it's worth getting it checked out if for nothing more than your peace of mind.
