Why is a Hair Consultation Important?

A hair loss consultation with a physician allows one of Bernstein Medical's board-certified doctors to properly evaluate the extent of your hair loss. It also allows the doctor to discuss your hair loss and treatment options. In this video, Dr. Wolfeld talks about the steps involved.

Dr. Wolfeld: To determine if you’re a good candidate during a consultation, I’ll conduct both a physical exam and use a device called a densitometer to see if you have both an adequate supply of donor hair and if your donor supply has the appropriate density; I’ll also determine if your scalp has the appropriate laxity.

If you are a good candidate for a hair transplant, I’ll draw a hairline to show you where the new hair will start and the transplant locations.
