Default Was John Lennon going bald?

These are some pictures from the last months of his life. Lennon changed his hair at least ten times in 1980. From 1979 to early August 1980, he grew it long. From 1979 through May 1980 he grew and kept a thick beard. A lot of evidence suggest he was very unhappy with his appearance and kept changing it up as a result.

    November 1979:

April 1980, full beard and ponytail:

June 1980, long hair and pulled back in a ponytail:

    Early August 1980

By late August 1980, he'd gotten the first of several haircuts.

By October 1980 he was letting his hair grow again:

By November he had long hair and long bangs:

The next day, Dec 6th, he cut his hair yet again

The morning of his death, he had a second haircut before this last photo, to shorten the bangs even more

Yeah who knows. Id say if you compared his hair here back to his younger days he definitely lost some over the years like many do. Any change in density someone else can notice means you lost a good percent of hair.
Someone can change appearance a lot without not liking their appearance. Trying to read minds is a dangerous game to play

Miser this is a great thread that you created ! Thank you bro!!
I loved John Lennon (and the Beatles) and when he was murdered on Dec. 8th 1980, I was so very heart broken!
    Everyone was heart broken!!
(When George Harrison died of cancer on Nov. 29th 2001, that was yet another heartbreak!)

John Lennon's hair at times did look like he was experiencing some type of hairloss.
Those photos you had posted here does show that.
Im sure that he did whatever it took to IMPROVE his hairs appearance.
Don't know what he had done but it was a good improvement.

By the way, I created a portrait of John Lennon one week after he had died and then
I created yet another portrait of him one year later.
The photo that I use here is the 1981 portrait of John!!

Miser, I just wanted to thank you once again for bringing up John Lennon .
The two reasons why it was a good thing that you did:

#1) John Lennon, was a great musician from his early Beatle days on through to his last year on the earth, 1980!
    John is missed!!
#2) John Lennon's hair at times did look like he was experiencing some type of hairloss and or receding. For many many years, he was on DRUGS. (drinking too much at times too)
Maybe that had something to do with how his hair was looking back then.
Because John and Yoko wanted to have a baby together in the 1970s, they went to their doctor for proper guidance. John STOPPED doing drugs and drinking. He had IMPROVED his health very much so that he could once again become a father! (Yoko's health was much better too!)
Luckily, they finally did have Sean Lennon, born on Oct. 9th 1975.
(John was born on Oct. 9th 1940 and then John was killed the day before his and his sons birthdays, on Oct. 8th 1980!!)
Back to the hair topic, I feel that John Lennon's hair was probably improved due to the fact that he had gotten off of those heavy drugs and improved his HEALTH so that they could have a baby together with the help of a VERY GOOD Doctor!!

Kind of odd that you gathered all of these amazing seldom seen pictures of one of the greatest music icons in history, and this is the topic of discussion - whether a 40 year old man was showing early signs of baldness shortly before he was murdered. What a world.

I am so glad you brought this back up GoingGoing!
Thanks, John Lennon is very worth talking about!!!!
Of course John Lennon had a matured hairline but I do feel that Health issues that he had had added to his hair issues.
As I've said before , he was on drugs, he also had emotional issues as well.
Thankfully all of that worked out in his favor and also was in his wife's favor!
They had a baby together and John was starting to show much better health.
(i'm at work right now so I have to keep it short). LoL

hahaha... this thread is hilarious.. if he was going bald, I doubt he ever even thought about it, nor did the people around him. He was extremely talented, confident and had an awesome personality. Proof that there are other things to life than hair.
