SMP combined with FUE ?

I posted a thread in the SMP section but it looks as though it doesn't get as much traffic as here.

Would the combination of a good FUE and SMP be a good idea ? SMP done well can give you the look. FUE can give you the feel. You wouldn't even need many grafts if you kept your hair short enough.

If you go to a good practitioner who was able to combine the two together, knowing what your expectations are then surely that would be a viable option ?
