Hair life cycle
Is it true that hair only has a certain amount of life cycles before it ceases to grow again? What are your thoughts on this? Some research says that a certain hair can regrow and be shed like 5-10 times before the follicle starts failing to produce new hair. Is this only for DHT sensitive follicles? It's an interesting subject and as someone who apparently has "chronic TE" it would seem that if this was true, my hair would be doomed, because it is consistently shedding.

This is DHT-sensitive hair follicles. Over each growth cycle, the hair shrinks until growth ceases and there is no longer the energy to produce hair.

So, do you believe that after many life cycles in the absence of DHT, by being on androgen blockers, a shrunken follicle can revert back to it's normal state and produce a terminal hair fiber?

Dr Rashid,
Is there a difference between 5AR-1 converted DHT and 5AR-2 converted DHT? Or DHT is DHT, no difference?
Fin only block 5AR-2, so there will be 5AR-1 left to be converted to DHT, will it attack the hair follicles as well?
Thanks

5-AR is just an enzyme, meaning it catalyzes the reaction in which DHT is formed. DHT is DHT, it's the same molecule despite which enzyme is responsible for it's conversion. Both 5-AR-1 and 2 both catalyze the same reaction, so no, there is no difference. DUT is more powerful because it blocks both, leading to a much lower concentration of dht in serum
