Default Need to wear a hat after hair transplant surgery

    Hi everyone,

It's been 4 days since I've had my hair transplant surgery, and need to wear a hat to attend social gatherings I am absolutely obligated to go to.

Is this a bad thing? The doctor at Bosley claimed that I could wear a loose hat as soon as I left, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't affect anything. Is this an alright idea?

Also, just curious - if I WERE to unfortunately lose any grafts, would it be clearly noticeable? I heard that it would cause bleeding if this did occur.

    Thanks!

Im one month post op and my doctor told me I could wear a loose hat at 5 days. You will notice if you've lost a graft because it bleeds and there is a tiny hole visible, I lost one myself.

You can wear a loosely fitting hat that doesn't directly contact the grafted areas. If you were to lose one, you might see new blood form. At four days, stay with the post-op instructions as directed by your doctor's office.

    All the best...

You can "perch" a baseball cap on your head in a manner that the strap is above your donor site and the top of the cap does not touch the recipient sites on the top of your head at all. Looks totally normal.

Best to get the hat somehow not touch the areas where you got the job.

Would a loose fitting beanie work? I'm sure the grafts will be touched by the hat, but it is a very loosely fitting hat. Luckily no grafts were lost when I wore a hat the first few days (no bleeding of any kind).
