    Default workout post surgery

Im 3 weeks post FUT and I had a tricho closure. My laxity is great, two different doctors told me Im healing extremely well and the scar is very tiny already. My question is should I still wait the 6 weeks to start working out at 50% or can I do it sooner? The scar is super loose already and I can't see any real tension being put on it if I only do 50%

    Hi there,

Personally if all is going well be patient and don't rush it for the sake of a couple more weeks taking it easy. 50-60% is cool now but no heavy lifting in my opinion.

It never fails to surprise me. Patients can take months and months to do research to find the solution to a problem that has, many times, plagued them for several years but once surgery is done they can't wait to get back to their normal routine and want to seek advice outside of that given by their doctor so they can cut their recovery time short. You had surgery and paid thousands of dollars for it out of your own pocket. Give the surgery the time it needs to heal properly based on what YOUR clinic told you, not based on the second opinion of another doctor. It doesn't work like that. Most FUSS scars look great at six weeks. It's at the six month point things may not be so rosy.

The instructions I had was to wait 6 weeks to start at 50%. I'm wasn't sure if that is a blanket statement just so everyone is safe or are there risks I'm unaware of. I wanted to ask here before I call my doctor with stupid questions. I haven't worked out at all yet, I'm just curious.

Did they use sutures or staples?

You can't call your doctor with stupid questions. This is surgery and you have every right to ask anything you are not sure about. In fact, you bring up a good point about the instructions. Were they written for you are they a general set of guidelines? They are probably general guidelines and if you went to a reputable doctor, and there was any extenuating circumstances regarding your case they would have made notes on your instructions or told you something contrary to what the instructions say. I urge you to call your clinic and don't listen to anyone else but them. They know your case and they know what to tell you.

Yeah it was on a pamphlet, one of the doctors said the same thing verbatim. However, she said something about not wanting to stretch the scar. Is that all I'm worried about or is there more? Im going to have to take a bunch of pics and email them but if someone knew of further risks than I wouldn't even bother and wait the 6 weeks. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting antsy, I've been avoiding friends and family like the plague. Working out would actually keep me sane but I wouldn't have just gone solely based off this forum.
