switch to avodart from propecia
I've been on propecia for about 2 1/2 months and noticed a pretty serious shedding during that time and it didn't seem to be improving so I switched to avodart , during this switch will I still see the shedded hairs regrow back even though I've stopped propecia ?

Shedding is not unusual in the first 4 months of starting finasteride.
You need to give finasteride at least 9 months to accurately evaluate its effectiveness.
Avodart has no long term safety studies in younger men for MPB.
Although many use this drug off label, it's safety in treating MPB has not been established.
I'd highly recommend you give Propecia a full year before going on Avodart.

I don't understand what your logic for switching is? If you shed from propecia in a "bad way", meaning that your are a bad responder... then you will probably shed from dutasteride even worst... if you were shedding from propecia in a "good" way, meaning that your follicles are getting ready to produce stronger fibers, then you probably shouldn't have switched... you need to ride these things out. Shedding at 2.5 months is relatively normal and I personally believe that in many cases in means the medication is working. In order to build a stronger, better house, your need to rip some walls down and start fresh. It's terrifying, but it's the only choice. I am 7.5 months into fin, and only at 7 months did my shedding slow down.

I'd take the doctors advice. Avodart is a seriously powerful drug.
