Default When to give up on finasteride

Another one of these threads, I know -
I have been on fin for 7 months now. No substantial sides. It just seems like I have thinned out even more while on it. I am also having the uncomfortable scalp sensations, tingling, burning, especially where it is thinning...

Has anyone on here persevered through this period and experienced positive results?

I do notice a lot of little hairs growing everywhere, but they seem to be growing really slow or not at all

I have had a DHT test and my DHT is low, which is a positive factor

I have noticed shedding has become a little bit less in the past couple weeks

Any advice or experience is appreciated. thanks.

The hair improvements, due to the use of Finasteride, can at times be very slow in development.
You really must be patient James'
If you were to get off of Finasteride ,more than likely, you will experience much more hairloss.
The improvements always vary for everyone.
Patience is key to staying happy and content with your life bro.
You have not even been on it for a year as yet.
No stress James' , you have read what Ive said about what STRESS can and will do to your hair.
Stay calm and content for today.
Things will more than likely get better for you.

    Dr. Rashid,
Do you have any insight into the occassional tingling, burning that is proceeded by hair loss while on the drug? I know opinions for this vary from doctor to doctor. I am paranoid, because this is happening ONLY in the area where I did get a hair transplant 2 YEARS ago... and it is making that area thinner and thinner and these horrible transplants more and more apparent. it seems they are getting harder to cover up by the week! I know I have come this far and I should stick with it, for at least a couple more months... and obviously some of the hair is replacing itself, otherwise I would be slick bald... I just can't help but be confused and slightly frustrated as this is my last hope... ALL of this has happened so quickly.. from NW1 to horribly diffused thin every where in just a year and a half, after having thick full hair for 31 years.... Man, people should be more thoroughly warned about the dangers of hair transplants.

    Jamesst11,

Would you say that you've been 'thinning' or shedding in this area over the last 6 months? Are you using any other anti-DHT treatments? Did the sensations start less than 7 months ago?

Now, in the last couple of weeks, you are probably at the point where you are stabilizing. You may not see much improvement in hair quality yet, but the next few months should determine what kind of results you will see. Some see more hair and others see less hair loss after 1 year. It may be beneficial to wait out the next 5 or 6 months.

Finasteride can cause many side effects as well.
•changes in the breasts such as increased size, lumps, pain, or nipple discharge
    •rash
    •itching
    •hives
•swelling of the lips and face
    •difficulty breathing or swallowing
Finasteride may cause other side effects. Consult a good hair specialist if you have any unusual problems while taking this medication.
