Hi, everyone. I am 27 and have been experiencing a receding hairline for years now. I was in denial until the past year, when I began to notice thinning across the top and frontal region of my scalp. I am probably NW 2-3.
I made an appointment with a dermatologist, but it's not until next month, and I wanted to do something NOW. So I began using Rogaine foam on my hairline.
In the first week-and-a-half, I have experienced significant shedding and my hair is noticeably thinner--there are more parts of my head where the scalp is clearly visible. As a result, yesterday I stopped using the product, partially due to some of the posts I have read about the product destroying people's hairlines.
My question is, did I make a rookie mistake by failing to ride out the shed? Should I continue using the foam even though I stopped yesterday? I have longish hair and so the thinning is very apparent--and I do not want cut my hair short and make the receding hairline more noticeable. I also have difficulty styling my hair as I like to do while using the foam and I got kind of sentimental and said to myself that I'd rather be able to style my hair as I like for as long as I have it than continue the foam.
Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.
