Default Vitamin-Boosted Stem Cells Reveal Potential to Cure Baldness

"A team of Japanese researchers has discovered that VD3, an extremely active form of vitamin D, boosts stem cells to enhance and maintain their ability to trigger hair growth. This new study builds upon earlier research that has demonstrated how dermal papilla cells (DPCs) can stimulate epithelial stem cells to become hair."

This is from 2012 though. Does anyone knows if they have news for us?

I can't for the life of me remember what research they're currently involved with, but I'm sure that the Wake Forest Institute are currently working on something pertaining to hair loss and/or regeneration.

Perhaps this Vitamin D research laid the foundation for their current research? Perhaps it's one and the same? Could it be that they're already three years in to this line of research?

    Let's hope.

Hey guys, this japan researcher you talked about is working with Regience company

"Hair engraftment improvement:Research for the regeneration of hair

Regience made an agreement with Tokyo University and ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for collaboration research to the regeneration medicine of hair. Through this collaboration, Regience aims for the clinical application of regenerative medical products, developed upon the in vitro and in vivo studies with Koutaro Yoshimura, Lecturer of Department of Plastic Surgery, Tokyo University, Graduate School of Medicine and ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd."

the company work on two different approach for hair regeneration:
    - medications ones with the work of this guy (VD3,laminin 511,332) and the work of other researchers from Osaka univ (in preclinical in their pipeline)

-and a stem cell therapy with Dr. Hironobu Fujiwara/RIKEN Center

this quote is from april so things have moved on since then:

"Regience paid our attention to the hair follicle study, which is expected to be immediately applied to the regenerative medicine, and concluded a collaborative research agreement with Dr. Fujiwara. In this project, we are first seeking to reconstitute the hair follicle organization by using murine cells and referring epithelium and mesenchymal stem cell niches (Fig.3). Subsequently, we challenge to the human hair follicle reconstitution that can be used for a regenerative medical product.

While the reconstitution of the hair follicle are being studied all over the world, the successful case has not been reported yet. Regience shall commit to this big mission in the joint research with RIKEN. The reconstituted hair follicles are able to be transplanted to the human body as same procedure of the current hair implant surgery and therefore, we expect that the reconstituted human hair follicles becomes to be the ultimate materials for the cure of AGA.

They are only in preclinical stage. I don't understand how that works when this was stated 3 years ago? Were they in preclinical trials 3 years ago, and now have moved forward? I feel like this is going to be the real cure everybody is searching for, I can feel it!
