Navi: Are you dissatisfied with the PRP treatments or was it effective? Seems like you should have a pretty good idea by this time.

Magster: Are you still dissatisfied with the PRP treatments? Which Dr did you go to? What does the Dr say?

Saw Palmetto? Would try Finasteride before that. Does SP even lower DHT?

Has your shed stopped now? Or is it less?

I had it done in 2015, i had a huge shed at that time and i decided not to have the third session, my hairline receded pretty much due to that shed but i kept on using minoxidil. Now after two years , hairline has only gotten worse.Since I am still shedding, I have no idea if this is still PRP in action or MPB progression. But for the advice, don,t go with prp , it is useless.

I'm 24 years old. I'm suffering from androgenic alopecia since 4 years and have been through 7-8 episodes of hairfall. I have been using minoxidil 5% and finasterides. To compensate for the lost hair my doctor adviced me to undergo prp. After my first session I suddenly started losing hair. But it was okay because I used to lose 30-40 strands in a day. A week after my second sitting to my wonder I started shedding 100 hair on a day I didn't wash my hair and 200-250 strands on the day I washed my hair. The doctor told me this one is of the "rarest of the rare" category. Having no response towards the treatment is okay but negative response is extremely rare. I'm shedding like crazy. Its been 2 and a half months after my 2nd sitting and 1 and a half months after my 3rd sitting. There is no improvement at all. I'm really depressed and have given up all hopes. I wish I had never undergone this procedure. Does the shed ever decreases?

The amount of peer reviewed data that has come out in the last year about the consistency of effectiveness of PRP is pretty promising, as are the reviews on realself. Even in patients who didn't use acell, microneedling, double spins, preactivation, etc. Also seems to be some newer research that suggests using a younger donor's platelets instead of your own would have higher growth factor concentrations and be more effective, so the age you are having this done seems to matter quite a bit as well.

Makes me suspect the experiences in this thread are more anecdotal, similar to how finasteride and dut work for most, but the threads and forums tend to attract those with more extreme experiences.
