    Tsuji labs news????

    in 2012 Dr. Tsuji in an interview:

    "With the technology the lab has developed the stem cells required for hair regeneration can be taken from the individual in question. Tsuji expects that it will take five to 10 years to bring the technology to market."

    when will start the human trial????

      No idea. Not sure but I think he showed up in that replicel video recently 2015 and again said 10 years.

          Sounds about right! Its a different variation of the infinite 5-10 year cycle quote.

          In all seriousness its a shame because I was hoping they'd have made some progress by now and their projected timeline would have reflected that. :/

            LOL when has any hair loss scientist accurately predicted if and when their product would make it to market? How many times have you heard "within 5 years" in the last 5 years, and how many of those products have been shelved?

            No one cares about predictions - just show us that it works on humans.

                        Anybody aware of this patent filed by tsuji in February 2014? It's about controlling the color of the implanted hair follicle using his method from 2012.

                          Sounds good renee, it could confirm his claims that he succesfully grown ectodermal organs for the moment ( teeth, hair follicles, and some secretory glands) with his organ germ method.

                          His lab is part of the RIKEN CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY ( there's 20 different labs)


                          there's other lab that are interesting. One lab work on iPSC, one on tissue, one on growth control signaling, 2 others work on cells adhesion, cells asymetry,etc..

                              "This bioengineered organ germ method, which manipulates epithelial and mesenchymal cells via cell compartmentalization at a high cell density in a type I collagen gel matrix, was developed to reconstruct bioengineered organ germs in vitro as an organ engineering technology (Figure 2a,b) [91,92]. This method successfully developed bioengineered ectodermal organs, such as teeth and hair follicle germs, through multicellular assembly and epithelial and mesenchymal interactions similar to those in natural organ germs (Figure 2c,d) [91,92,93,94,95]. Importantly, the bioengineered tooth and hair follicle germ transplants could restore physiological functions via cooperation with peripheral tissues at the lost tooth or hair follicle "

                              "These studies are a proof-of-concept for bioengineered organs that can functionally restore the lacrimal gland"


                              In 2012:

                              "Recently, Toyoshima and colleagues (Tsuji Lab) created a bioengineered hair follicle germ using embryonic skin-derived epithelium and mesenchymal donor cells. The transplanted germ integrated with the host epithelium, producing a fully functional hair follicle demonstrating connection to the host nerves as well as to the piloerection ability. They further demonstrated that through the use of a guide, the interaction between these donor cells and the host epithelium was independent of placement depth. Taken together, these studies demonstrate that cells delivered in the appropriate package are able to integrate with the host tissue to produce a hair follicle. This technique would provide the clinician the ability to control the pattern, density, and orientation of the follicles resulting from this cell-based therapy."


                              That was before iPSC breaktrought, so now in 2015, if they can do the same with iPSC rather than embryonic, it's sounds like the cure, but are they trying it on human trial? Or do they need more time on mouse to perfect the protocol? maybe it's more the second option (even if I really hope Im wrong)

                              In 2012 they were saying they plan to begin human trials within 3-5 years. So let's cross fingers trials begin soon, with regenerative law in japan, it could hit the market there before 2020
