You are so CORRECT in saying- "...media created this shallow society norm"

Thanks Herb' ! Glad to hear from you buddy!!!!
(Off topic, and no thread stealing.)

Nice to hear that you are an artist!
Is your art placed in a specific genre, or did you find your own style?

I was in art school in Finland, and i remember during the studies that i got influences from other artists, but i could not get to the point to create that was totally my own style.

I started slowly recently to draw again (first step), and it´s sure is a pleasant feeling.

    Hi Herbaliser,

I was gifted with natural artistic talent.
I am mainly a fine-art portrait artist with my own creative style.
I also create/paint caricature artwork too.
When I was 14 years old , I was actually influenced to create caricature portraits by a well known and famous
Illustrator/Caricature Artist in the art-community , Robert Grossman.(from New York City)
Herb' research his name and his caricature artwork online...youll like it
He worked for magazines like 'National Lampoon' and 'Mad Magazine' , he did artwork for movies,,etc.
I like creating caricature artwork but my main focus has always been on fine-art portraits.
Obviously, people love my style because I have been hired to do so many commissions/contracts all the time.

Herb' your own creative artistic style will happen naturally for you.

Just continue to stay focused on artwork and use the artistic influences of others..your own style will happen.
    Good luck my artistic friend!!

Nice to hear and i´m glad for you!
I´m good at photo realistic drawings, which people liked and i made a little business of it before.
Your name inspired me actually, and i´m going to pick it up again with a webpage and see how it goes.

I´m going check out Robert Grossman, and hopefully find more inspiration.

    Thanks Artista!
