    My Story

Hi, I am 16 years old and have noticed a slight hairline recession recently. I would say I am a Norwood 1. I have tried most of the non-prescription hair loss treatments i.e. Alpecin and Biotin but I have not found any results as of yet. I am extremely concerned about going bald(and have been very paranoid of it for around 2 years) as it stresses me out a great deal and is beginning to depress me and affect my confidence. There is a very common pattern of male pattern baldness on my father's side (fair, curly, thin hair) he did not start balding until around the age of 18 but my mother's side is completely clear of it (Brown, poker-straight hair). My questions are as follows:
1.How long will my hair last if it is receding
    2. Is it definitely receding
    3. What treatments would you recommend for someone of my age and how effective they will be
    4. Seen as I am not financially independent yet, what is the most cost effective treatment as well

It's hard to say for sure, without seeing pictures of you a few years ago. My guess would be yes, you seem to be receding and I also see slight thinning in the midscalp region towards the crown, which is pretty characteristic of MPB. Once again, this is my guess and I am not a doctor. You should see a dermatologist and perhaps get a miniaturization test done, that will help you determine how it is progressing.
