Default Sometimes automated scarless FUE is not all its cracked up to be. Dr. Lindsey McLean

We had the occasion today to do a 2000 graft repair case on a 30ish year old professional who had seen an ad on an airplane magazine. He got a small automated FUE case, experienced little to no growth and had additional hairline recession. Part of the problem may have been too little hair for the job... or too little surviving hair for the job at hand as well as additional loss.

We did a 2000 graft strip case today. Shown in these pictures are his excised strip with several small hairless scars from his previous procedure.

We see this fairly commonly, I believe this is our 49th repair of one particular automated system. Long time readers of the forums will know that I believe FUE is hard, is less predictable than strip, but is a useful technique for some patients.

Automated FUE is marketed AGGRESSIVELY in our area. What is important however is that consumers or patients...whatever you choose to call them...should research their procedure choices and doctors before committing, and the forums are an excellent tool to help avoid making these errors.

Dr. Lindsey is a really handsome guy. He would look great without hair if he decided to shave it.
