New effective 3rd treatment option??
So I went to a dermatologist to discuss some skin issues, and also asked about hair loss. To my surprise the doc said there are 3 official and effective treatment options. Of course we all know the 2 - minox and finasteride. I was like, what the heck is this 3rd treatment??
Doc said it's a new scalp injection that combines Triamcinolone and Progesterone. The drugs are not new, and they have previously been prescribed separately for various types of hair loss among other uses. However the doc said it is very recent that these two are being combined into a topical injection for male pattern baldness, and the results are good. Supposedly there are only a select few places that do it, primarily in major cities like LA and NYC. I live in SF and they said they are one of 2-3 places in SF that does it.
They said that since it is injected topically into the scalp, there are no sexual side effects like finasteride pill, even though the injection contains hormones. The results are also probably not as good as finasteride, but it is better than minox as far as what they have seen. Basically, safer than fin, more effective than minox.
Best of all, it is only 1 injection a month for 4 months. That's it. 4 injections total to see good results. After that you probably need like 1 injection every 2-3 months to maintain. Basically, very low maintenance.
What I also was surprised with is that it is covered by insurance, so you just pay a copay! Out of curiosity I asked how much it would cost without insurance, and it was just 120 bux a shot. Not bad at all. But yes, insurance covers so you only pay like 20 bux or 40 bux or whatever your copay is.
Mind you, this is not a hair clinic or hair specialist, I avoid those because all they're trying to do is try and sell you crap. This is a legit dermatologist office, board certified, multiple ivy league degrees, 5 star yelp reviews, etc. They were definitely not trying to sell me shit.
So my question is, have you guys heard of this??? You think it is legit?? Has anyone tried those drugs separately? Together? Let me know your thoughts.

Anyone here capable of commenting on this? This is quite interesting. The selectivity of cities is killer though.

Seems a little unlikely this could have come out with no attention doesn't it?

I was also surprised that I have never heard of it. The ingredients have been used for hair loss before tho.

Yeah this is questionable.
