What kind of finasteride are you taking?

The finasteride that was prescribed to me, and luckily covered my insurance, is just in a plain white bottle. It is labeled, FINASTERIDE tablets, USP and it seems the brand name is TEVA?? The question I have is, how do we know which brands to trust or not to? I read some where that certain brands are only required to contain 80% of the active ingredients as propecia... can anyone chime in on this PLEASEEEE???

Finasteride is strong enough in much smaller doses to do a lot of good. I would 100% trust any American brand as pharmacies are highly regulated. Even if there was 80% in them, finasteride is effective enough to still work. Walmart 5mg for $9 is what I use (without insurance covering it) and it has worked just fine and is ridiculously cheap.

Where did you read that? If the label claim is 1mg of Finasteride, then there should be 1mg of Finasteride in that tablet. TEVA is a manufacturer of generic drugs, and I would typically trust TEVA.

Inglorious - You're paying $9 for your Fin? Who is the manufacturer? I had to pay almost $200 for my 3 month supply of Fin.

I don't have the brand name for the finasteride with me as I'm at work, but it is through Walmart pharmacy and it's $9 for 30 5mg tablets. It works out to be 7.5 cents a day. Pretty good deal if you ask me, and it's legit too since it's a prescription filled through a U.S. pharmacy. If you google Walmart finasteride you should be able to find it. This is without insurance too.

My health insurance covers fin, so I got lucky. It's like $7 a bottle!
