Losing myself

I'm a 55 year old african american female who have suffered hair loss for about four years. I went to a prominent black dermatologist and she did a scalp biopsy. The results was cicatricial alopecia. She gave me antibodics and cortizone cream. She wanted me to try rogaine in the men strength. It gave me an itchy scalp and a lot of facial hairs. I'm willing to listen to just about anything in saving the little hair I have left. It's getting thinner and thinner. I need pointers.
