How long until Fin kicks in?

Hi all,

I started taking 1mg of generic Finasteride about a month ago. Fortunately, I have not noticed any negative side effects. I had some slight itching of my scalp my second week but that's gone.

Shedding slowed in the 2nd or 3rd week, but now it seems to be shedding about as much as before I started taking Fin.

Can you share your experiences on how long it should take for Finasteride to kick in, assuming it works for me? If you saw regrowth, how long was it until you started seeing gains?

I started in October after a major shed. By November I was shedding almost no hair in the shower yet my hair was still thinning. By December I started to notice some baby hairs at my hairline. Since then it has thickened up some. Starting in February-March I started shedding again and by April my shedding is back to prior to Fin (about 20 hairs in the shower).

In July, prior to starting Fin, I had a higher than normal shedding period and thinned out quite a bit by November. I am assuming I wasn't shedding anything in November-December because I probably didn't have anymore to shed.

I doubt I will see much regrowth being my loss is mostly on my temples which started 10 years ago and since slowly progressed. No vertex thinning at all and is fairly thick.

I started about two months ago... have been shedding quite a bit, since about 2 weeks before I started, until now. Don't know when it will stop. I have no idea why I have been shedding so much. I have lost half my hair in one year. I am hoping that fin will eventually sort this horrible nightmare out. I have become diffused thin all over and especially at temples and crown. Don't really notice anything growing...

Hey, I was wondering the same thing, not started on Fin yet should be arriving this week. But I saw some people say it takes a year.

But for me I'm not really sure what signs I'll see, I'm not massively shedding I think my balding is quite slow and really only noticed it by the miniaturization on the hairline. So I guess for me hopefully the signs will be my hairline is staying the same?

I should note, the hairs that are shedding seem to be thicker/nicer hairs than my previous shedding cycles. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing.
