21, diffuse thinning
I have been using minox and nizoral for 2 years now. It was fairly effective the first year, but now it seems that I've returned to baseline. I just want to know how bad it looks and if you guys have any experience with fin and if that helps thicken hair.

Diffuse thinning with not bald spots (i.e a receded hairline, a bald crown, or a bald mid-scalp) responds best to fin because nothing regrows significant hair on bald spots. It just strengthens hairs that are already there. If you have diffuse thinning with no receding hairline, that's good.
You can start finasteride at lowest effective dose and evaluate for 6 months to year. The most important and sad fact about hair loss treatment is you won't know until you try. Some people had success with it some people didn't. There is no 100% thing that works. Diffuse hair thinners can be good hair transplant candidates but there is may be a risk of permanent shock loss for miniaturised hairs.
Propecia and/or Rogaine may help strengthen these hairs if you take them 6 months to a year before hair transplantation. I would consider this first before undergoing hair restoration surgery.
Sorry, I didn’t have a look at your pictures so can’t really comment on your progress.

As about the treatment, yes, finasteride helps to stop hair loss and thicken miniaturized hair. Some guys take it in combination with minox and nizoral (Big 3) and report good results.
