Dr. Lindsey 17 month followup on2000 graft female hairline case McLean VA
This 40ish year old very athletic female emailed in pictures at 17 months. One is out in the bright sunlight…and the other is from inside with overhead lighting. She has a nice result and says she’ll be in our area this summer so that I can get more pics and even a video, when she brings in another female relative with an identical problem.
Shown are pictures from the day of the case and at suture removal and this week. In general I’m very picky about offering HT to females for the following reason. If you take a man with thinning hair or no hair, and give him an average or above average result…95% will be delighted. If you take a woman with thinning hair and give her a great result, it’s still not as thick as the hair she sees on the supermarket celebrity magazines and checkout….and she will be disappointed unless this is discussed preop. This young lady’s hair looks natural and significantly better now…and she’s very happy. Careful preop discussion and patient selection are key. Had she has less donor hair, or more area to fill and was not willing to use styling to help during the growing in phase, I would have be reluctant to offer her surgery.
