    Dr. Wong/4643 Grafts/One Session/10 Months

This local patient came in the other day to show us his ten month results. Dr. Wong and his team transplanted 4643 grafts in one session to rebuild his hairline, fill in the frontal half of his scalp and rebuild his crown for coverage.

This guys results are incredible! II have one question and I hope it’s not taken the wrong way., Did he lighten his hair or is it the picture that’s making it look like that. I ask because I know that lightening your hair will make it look thicker. This guys hair look really thick!

      Winston,

I don't take your question the wrong way and in fact I'm glad you asked it. The difference, however slight, is due to a couple of factors. First, the before photo was taken in the early morning when it was still dark outside. The after photos were taken in the afternoon when more ambient light was spread through the clinic. The second factor has a little bit to do with what I discovered as a smudge on the lense but this doesn't change the hair color so much as it "softens" the images overall.

The lighting issue could easily be remedied for more consistency if were to simply start using a flash in our photos but this is something we refuse to do because it completely misrepresents the real result. I have written about this extensively and even Spencer has realized the problem as seen in one of his videos where he is showing the difference between a flash photo and a non-flash photo.

I can literally take one photo with a flash ten seconds after another photo without a flash and present it online and claim that 2000 grafts were used to thicken the hairline of the subject. That is how much of an effect flash can and does have on photos. You can read more on the subject in the following article...
