Default HT killed all my native hair for good?!?

I have been so confused for over a year now and no one seems able to explain this to me, not even my HT surgeon.
I was a dumb a*s and jumped the gun and got a HT way too soon. 900 grafts into an area that already had a good amount of hair. Well it's a year and a half later and I swear to you, all my native hair in that area is gone. Under high magnification I see little vellous sprouts where the hairs used to be.

my question is this: Given that those hairs died off within the last year, is there a better chance that starting fin now may bring some of them back? (started a week ago) OR Are they damaged follicles from a poor HT that will never mature?

I am left with one temple consisting of transplanted hairs spaced too far apart. I feel like I look effin weird and I hate this! No, pics don't do it justice, but you can trust me, it's horrible.

Anyone have experience or knowledge about this??? Seems like a pretty common issue in the HT world.

The more hair you have going into a transplant the more likely you are to suffer with shock loss. Since you say you had 900 grafts transplanted into a relatively dense area, then you were a prime candidate for this to happen. Sometimes the hair will grow back and sometimes it won’t. Most knowledgeable and experienced hair transplant surgeons will explain the risks of doing this and I would say that if you really had a lot of hair to begin with, the ethical ones would have turned you away in the first place.

While it is possible that some of the hair could have been damaged by creating the recipient sites, it’s more likely that the majority of hair you lost was just due to shock and might respond well to Propecia.

    Hope this helps.
