Default I'm new to the site-I sent photos to Dr Hasson

As I mentioned in the title, I'm new to this site. I've decided to get my procedure from Dr Hasson, I sent a series of poor quality photos "taken by myself". They felt I could get only 3500 grafts. I'm resubmitting some better photos this week. Can anyone make any inputs concerning the low graft estimate? Comparing myself to others that had twice the amount of grafts and see no difference.

Bergie, It is tough to assess your own donor for density and even more difficult to assess others by photos alone. What can't be assessed in person is your laxity and the recommendations will take into consideration only average laxity. If you laxity turns out to be above average and you need the grafts which it sounds like you want then if appropriate more grafts could be taken. We tend to air on the side of caution for the reason that we just don't know exactly how dense the donor is and how lax your scalp is. That said there maybe a reason for the 3500 graft estimate better photos will tell for sure. Let me know if I can help.

There is also the chance that you answered your own question. By sending "poor quality photos" they may have been playing it safe. If your photos were of higher quality and there was really nothing left to the imagination then it means you probably have low donor density. You won't know till you take the time to send worthwhile images. Before you send them, ask yourself if you can see in the photos what you see in the mirror. Make sure the focus is on the hair, not the picture frame on the wall ten fee behind you.

Thank you for the excellent information. I remember a friend of mine years ago getting a hair transplant-They inflated balloons under the donor area to increase the number of grafts. When I scheduled my appointment, I received an email about the details-They mentioned using Rogaine-How long before the procedure should I stop it? Once again thanks for all your help, Bergie

    Bergie,

    Thanks.

You should stop Rogaine at least 1 month before your procedure. Let me know what the clinic says about your new photos or you can email them to me direct if you like and I will get the Doctors to re-assess.
