I had sent an email to Replicel and Shiseido a month back to get some kinda info about the overall update around RCH-01, but I didnt receive any response yet. Anyone closely tracking their clinical trials ?

My hunch is shisheido won't trial replicels technology. However I do believe they will start a trial involving replicels dermal sheath cups cells and ips cells. This is based on a recent article claiming shisheido will have the cure by 2018. http://en.rocketnews24.com/2015/07/0...arket-by-2018/

I'm sure shieshedo specifically said they won't be working on the iPS for the 2018 release date (cannot find the link was on the fb site)

you can't just bung some extra stem cells in it. Especially stem cells which have currently only been involved in as many clinical trials I can count on one hand, with most being postponed due to safety. iPSC's are big news but a phase 2 clinical trial of RCH-01 will not involve them.
If they want to do trials with iPSC's then great, but it will certainly be later than 2018.

Now if Shiseido come out with a different treatment involving iPSC's then ok. Can they really go from a safety trial to completed safety and efficacy In 2/3 years? Bare in mind this phase 2 will take about 3 years. Another question, Japan have lines of stem cells they can easily begin to use as allogeneic iPSC's because they aren't so genetically diverse as the western world. It's cheaper and the chance of rejection could be low so if they go that route we still couldn't get the treatment in 2018. Maybe they don't go that route but they have gone that route in one clinical trial in Japan involving iPSC's.
Anyway all we can do is wait. They are apparently set to begin this year so we will soon find out. If it's the RCH-01 then there would be negative amounts of things gained if they reverted back to pluripotency, Infact there would be no point what so ever.
Now if they get 2 treatments, one with IPSC's to grow hairs in vitro and RCH-01 for those who are still nw2 then that could be something but again just read what I said about IPSC's and how replicel confirmed adjacent trial will be RCH-01.

That rocketnews article is not a credible source. Anyone can write their speculations on the internet and claim they are real. That is what we are doing here.

exactly.

Shiseido will bring a treatment in 2018 is a fact according to their claim. Only speculation is their use of ips cells in phase2.
