Terrible Sperm Analysis while on Finasteride for 3 months
Hey guys,
I'm real concerned about this, I need your help...
I'm 23 years old, I started using 0.5mg generic finasteride daily 2.75 months ago. About a couple days afterwards, I started noticing testicular pain and got myself checked out by a urologist. Got a scan done and it was confirmed a Varicocele Grade II.
Now I'm not saying finasteride caused it because it's possible that I've had it prior to starting but just got diagnosed because I paid more attention to the testicular pain ever since on the drug.
Last month (2 months into finasteride treatment), my sperm analysis came back terrible.
Concentration: 8.11 M/ml
Count: 34.86 M/sample
Volume: 4.3 ml
Motility: 65% (47.35% progressive)
Morphology: 2.86% normal
Confused about those bad results, exactly a month later (3 months into finasteride treatment) I decided to do another sperm test. The results were even worse:
Concentration: 6.88 M/ml
Count: 15.82 M/sample
Volume: 2.3 ml
Motility: 47% (18.43% progressive)
Morphology: 3.75% normal
I also did my blood tests a day later that will reveal my endocrine status next week before my second appointment with my urologist. He will see both my sperm analyses and the blood tests.
I'm afraid he'll tell me to stop finasteride because I'm seeing benefits from it at the 3 month mark. No side effects except for probable nocebo slight libido loss. When I saw him the first time, he told me not to discontinue it. As I see, studies show that spermatozoon improves after cessation of finasteride in young men.
What are your opinions on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a varicocoele, hydrocoele, and a benign calcification. All of which were present before starting 5-AR inhibitor. I'm not sure why finasteride would cause a varicocoele or sperm count/motility. Just listen to your urologist. I have no idea what my sperm is doing honestly, I'm gay so I couldn't really care less what's going on in my semen.

Thanks, I can tolerate the pain for now but I'd like to have kids some day so I don't know what to do and if Fin is causing any of the sperm tests to be so bad.
bump?

So my urologist said Fin could contribute to lowering my sperm statistics but not to this extent and that I shouldn't discontinue it for the sole reason of hoping to higher my spermatozoon.
He proposed I go with a Varicocele Embolization. Has anyone done this? Experiences?
