    Default Hair Colour and transplants

    Hi,

I first noticed my hair issue at 21. I am now 35 and strongly considering a HT. I would classify myself as a NW 3. I have had a few online consults which suggested around 2,000 - 2,5000 grafts. I have a few questions I hope people could help me with.

    1. I have red hair. How does this sit with hair transplants? Does this make a difference to results?

    2. Is it better to get the transplant now or wait until the hair at least at the front has gone? (as to avoid having hair like the guy from Prodigy)

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think it depends of how dark your hair is. Is it light red or dark red? From what I have seen it it probably to your advantage to have light red hair and light skin compared to say black hair and light skin. You might need less hair to be transplanted to give you a full look. If you are an NW 3 having a hair transplant might be an option. I remember seeing a red head in the IAHRS transplant patient forum. http://www.baldtruthtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16 You should see if you can find him, he looked very good.

Hair transplant results in patients with red hair can be very good. The other hair characteristics including coarse vs fine and curly vs straight also play an important role in determining a patients results. You have to decide if you want to be proactive and have a procedure before you have significant hair loss. You are still young, try to be somewhat conservative.

    Default red hair

I saw a HT for a red head on Dr. Wolf's web page. I believe he just had a receding hairline and received a slight few transplants than you've been estimated.
