This has already been discussed in many threads. Dr. Xu has informed us that these hairs are likely mouse hairs and not human hairs, and that the researchers misinterpreted their results. He said the hairs are too small to be human hairs. Still, all steps in the right direction.

He has not informed us anything of the sort. He is speculating.

I'm sure it's more than speculation. This is what he does for a living, and the fact that he doesn't want to go into specifics with random hair forum posters is not surprising. Can't really add more to that, but I trust him. The good thing is that he's working on the same thing, as are others.

It would also be what the two (at least) academic reviewers of the publication do for a living, and they were satisfied.

If someone finds a major flaw with a peer-reviewed study, they should let it be known for the scientific community to decide based on evidence. Until such evidence is provided (i.e. a formal rebuttal), the publication in question has more credibility than unsubstantiated personal correspondence between an unqualified layperson and a doctor who for all we know could be a disgruntled competitor that got scooped.

Default sdsurfin please post a link to Dr. Xu's statement to us

I have not seen any comment by Dr. Xu stating these are probably mouse hairs rather than human hairs.

Keep in mind that I think that I've said repeatedly that even if they are human hairs the study still does not equal a cure because there is still the issue that the fat layer is thinned out. I think that until you do something about the fat layer you can't cure hair loss. So I am not very excited about the new study and I think we aren't much closer to a cure than we were the day before the study was released. But that having been said I still have not seen where Dr. Xu says that the hairs are probably mouse hairs.
